Roseville's nonprofit Magic Circle Theatre will host its first
annual Black Tie Gala featuring the Birdsall Awards on Nov. 6,
2004. The event is a new take on its annual awards ceremony that
honors actors who appeared in the previous season's 12
productions.
This year, with a new name and revamped format, the event will feature
not only the awards, but an entire awards program with production
numbers from the theatre's new season. In addition, the event will
include a hosted reception and silent auction, and Master of
Ceremonies Pat Hambright from FOX 40 KTXL.
"Over the years, interest in the Birdsall Awards has grown
tremendously," said Magic Circle President Brian Lewis. "Our
season subscribers select the recipients through secret ballot,
and they've always enjoyed the event. But we also have growing
interest from others who see our shows and support our programs,
he added. This is a celebration for the entire community."
Magic Circle is a nonprofit theatre company that produces 12 shows
each year in its two downtown Roseville venues: the Roseville and
Tower Theaters on Vernon Street. It also offers a host of other
programs, including youth productions. Lewis said Magic Circle is
still in need of contributions to help pay for some long-term debt
that the nonprofit assumed when it renovated the Roseville
Theatre. "So this is a chance to celebrate and honor our actors
and patrons, while raising funds to help retire our capitol
improvement debt," he said. "And contributions are
tax-deductible."
Tickets to the Black Tie Gala featuring the Birdsall Awards (black
tie optional) are $25 for adults and $10 for children 16 and
under. They may be purchased by calling the Magic Circle box
office at 782-1777. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Roseville
Theatre with a reception and silent auction. Entertainment begins
at 7:30 p.m. Contributions for the silent auction are also being
sought. Please call Kathy Wilens (705-0603) or Paul March
(220-3413) for more information.
Join us for this Gala Fund Raising Event with a silent auction, raffle,
food, entertainment from upcoming shows, and the Birdsall Awards (our
version of the Tony's).

Bill Birdsall Award Nominees 2004
|
Named for the late actor and director Bill Birdsall, a longtime friend
of the theatre, the Birdsall awards are Roseville's version of the Tonys.
Each year, Magic Circle season ticket holders vote on their favorite performances for
leading actor and actress and supporting actor and actress, in the
two categories "Musical" and "Non-Musical".
