Auditions

Below are the upcoming auditions at Civic Theatre West. The Open Auditions are for our Mainstage productions and are open to anyone.

Auditions will be held at The Roseville Theatre, 241 Vernon Street, Roseville or The Tower Theatre, 421 Vernon Street, Roseville on the dates shown. Dates are subject to change - please check this page again a couple of weeks before the audition you are interested in.

We do not audition with prepared monologues. The director will choose scenes from the script for "cold readings."

Clothing and shoes should allow actors/actresses to move easily. Bare feet are NEVER allowed!

For Musical auditions, be prepared with 16 bars of a song from a Broadway show (but not from the show you are auditioning for), and come dressed for movement. If at all possible, plan to attend both days of auditions. An accompanist will be provided.

Headshots and resumés are not required but useful if you have one.

The normal rehearsal schedule for Mainstage productions is Monday through Thursday evenings from 7:30pm to 10:00pm. Bring a list of dates that would conflict with rehearsals.

Anyone with dates that conflict with actual performances need not audition.

Civic Theatre West is to committed to racial, cultural and individual diversity. Casting for all CTW productions is open to any member of the community, regardless of race, ethnic origin or sexual orientation. Non-traditional and equal-opportunity casting is encouraged. ALL casting shall be determined by open auditions. Notices detailing the time, place, and specific requirements of each individual audition shall be posted, as far in advance as circumstances permit, on our website as well as local association websites like SARTA.com and SeeAPlay.com. If, in the opinion of the director, a suitable cast cannot be selected from those who have auditioned, auditions may be extended beyond the original schedule, or else specific individuals may be invited to fill the need(s). This practice shall occur only with the authorization of the Production Director and Artistic Director. Under NO circumstances shall directors pre-cast. CTW feels this would be contrary to our vision and mission and therefore strictly prohibits the pre-casting of ANY role.

The Fairytale Company is looking for adult actors (age 16 and up) who have previous stage experience and who love to bring the joy of live theatre to children. IMPORTANT NOTE: you must be able to perform the entire run of the show on selected weekday mornings for school field trips AND on Saturday afternoons for the general public. Adult actors will be paid a stipend for performances. The schedule varies by show; for specific times/dates for rehearsals, tech week, and performances, contact Michelle at michelle@civicwest.org

Open auditions for the first show of the 2010/2011 season will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at the Roseville Theatre. The fall show is "Charlotte's Web". The show will be cast from this audition. You will be taught a song to sing for your audition but bring 16 bars of your own selected sheet music to sing, as needed. The director will choose scenes from the script for cold readings. Callbacks may be arranged, if needed.
