The Tony Award winning musical, Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn opens September 11th for a 5-weekend run at Magic Circle's Roseville Theater. Based on Mark Twain's beloved novel and propelled by an award winning score from Roger Miller, the king of country music, this jaunty journey provides a brilliantly theatrical celebration of pure Americana.

Twain's timeless classic sweeps us down the mighty Mississippi as the irrepressible Huck Finn (played by Kirk Schuyler Lawson) helps his friend Jim (Ryan Allen), a slave, escape to freedom at the mouth of the Ohio River. Their adventures along the way are hilarious, suspenseful and heartwarming, bringing to life your favorite characters from the novel, including the Widow Douglas (Madelyne Wright) and her stern sister, Miss Watson (Monique McKisson); the uproarious King (Rob Hayes) and Duke (Joel Porter), who may or may not be as harmless as they seem; and adding to the fun are Huck's partner in crime, Tom Sawyer (Nicholas Anthony Adorno), and their rowdy gang of pals; Huck's drunken father, the sinister Pap Finn (Richard Spierto); the lovely Mary Jane Wilkes (Katie Robberecht) and her trusting family.

Winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Music and Best Book of a Musical, Big River opened on Broadway in 1985 and ran for over 1,000 performances. A critically acclaimed Broadway revival and national tour by Deaf West Productions in 2004 enthralled audiences with its unique blend of deaf and hearing-impaired performers connecting through sound and sign. Big River is proudly sponsored by Tiffany & Co., now open at the Westfield Galleria in Roseville.

Big River opens Magic Circle's 23rd season on September 11th and plays Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm through October 10th. A special discount of $10 per ticket is being offered to School Groups of 12 or more. A limited number of Front Row Student Rush tickets can be purchased at the Box Office 30 minutes prior to performance time for $5 per ticket. Reserved tickets can be purchased through the Box Office at (916) 782-1777.
