Press Release
December 15, 2008
Roseville, CA December 16, 2008.
Turn off the bad news and head to the theatre for one of the greatest of all Rodgers and Hammerstein's musicals, Oklahoma!, opening in Magic Circle Theatre's Roseville Theater location on Jan. 9, 2009. This production in sponsored by Fidelity Investments. Start with the ever timeless love triangle, this time between the cheerful cowboy Curley, the spirited farm girl Laurey, and the dark- hearted farmhand, Jud. Add in a box lunch social, some animosity between the cowboys and the farmers, and a LOT of flirting by the local tease, and you've got an evening of musical entertainment that will take you away from all trouble. Oklahoma! will play Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00 and Sunday afternoons at 2:00, Jan. 9 - Feb. 7, 2009, in the Roseville Theater, 241 Vernon St., Roseville. Tickets are $22 - $25 general admission, $20 - $22 seniors, $15 - $17 students, $12 - $14 children 11 and under. Call (916) 782-1777 for tickets. Interesting extras: Oklahoma! was the first show to introduce the “dream ballet.” Alfred Drake originated the role of Curly, and was warned his opening song, “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” would probably not get applause (not rousing enough). Instead, he brought the house down.
