"Catch Me If You Can" at Roseville High School - New Location - New Dates!
[Levine, Corban and Mrs. Corban(?)] The Magic Circle Rep's next main stage production, the mirth filled mystery, Catch Me If You Can by Jack Weinstock and Willie Gilbert will be performed at the Roseville High School J. B. Gayle Little Theatre. The reason for this change is that our Adopt-a-Seat program has raised enough money to have all of the seats in the Roseville Theatre removed for renovation. Due to scheduling conflicts with the high school, Catch Me If You Can will open on May 18th, 2001 - one week later than first announced. To partially make up for the missing dates, we have scheduled a Sunday matinee on June 3 at 2:00pm.

[Father Kelleher, Mrs. Corban(?), Corban and Levine] Roseville High School is easy to find from the Magic Circle Rep. Just continue East on Vernon Street (toward the freeway) three stop lights. Before you get to the third one you will be able to see the high school campus across the railroad tracks. At the third light, Tahoe Ave., turn left and cross the tracks. The street will take you to the school. Parking is available in front of the main building and if you enter the campus through the main gate and walk straight ahead, you will walk right in the front door of the theatre. From the freeway, take the Atlantic Street exit and turn left at the light at the end of the off ramp. After crossing over the freeway, the second light will be Tahoe Ave. A right turn will put you at the high school.

Catch Me If You Can is a Broadway whodunnit that is funny and exciting from beginning to end. An advertising man, who brings his new bride to a mountain retreat for their honeymoon, calls in the local police to investigate her disappearance. A pretty young woman insists over his protests that she is the wife and is supported by a priest. Throw in a funny little man who owns a delicatessen and before you know it there are two murders. This one will have you laughing at the edge of your seat.

Once again Artistic Director Rosemarie Gerould, ably assisted by Jim Paskel, has assembled a top notch cast for your enjoyment. [Allen Ponce] As Corban, the advertising man, Rosemarie has chosen Allen Ponce. A favorite of Magic Circle Rep audiences, Allen just appeared as George in the hilarious farce, Moon Over Buffalo. Allen has been a regular at the Magic Circle Rep. since our second season when he appeared in Mary, Mary. Since then he has appeared in, The Odd Couple (twice!), The Dining Room, Having A Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Her... (twice!), The Sunshine Boys, The Diaries of Adam and Eve, When God Comes To Breakfast You Don't Burn The Toast, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Born Yesterday, The Music Man, Arsenic And Old Lace, Harvey, Rumors, Noises Off and The Sound Of Music for which he received his sixth Birdsall award. Allen choreographed the fencing scene for Moon Over Buffalo.

[Aurelio Martinez] Playing Corban's nemesis Police detective Levine is another long time Magic Circle Rep. favorite, Aurelio Martinez. Aurelio last appeared on our stage in Murder At The Howard Johnson's, reprising the role that won him his first Birdsall award. Aurelio was earlier seen as Selsdon, the drunken actor in Noises Off for which he received his second Birdsall. His other performances include the role of the fumbling psychiatrist husband of cooking show hostess Cookie in Rumors, the superstitious sheriff in The Foreigner and the campaign manager in The Second Lady.

[Myrna-Lisa Boone] The mysterious Mrs. Corban (or is she) is played by Myrna Lisa Boone. Myrna Lisa just appeared as Rosalind in Moon Over Buffalo. Myrna's first production at the Magic Circle Rep. was The Cocktail Hour for which she received her first Birdsall award. Since then she has appeared here regularly in such productions as California Suite, The Foreigner, Tribute, Wait Until Dark, Rumors and Born Yesterday for which she received her second Birdsall award. Myrna also appeared as Belinda in Noises Off.

[Donn Thomson] The versatile Donn Thomson returns to play the Irish priest Father Kelleher. Donn, who is also the company stage manager, last appeared as O'Brien in South Pacific. He also played Irving Berlin in The Melody Lingers On and the murderous butler, Medkins, in But Why Bump Off Barnaby? Donn made his Magic Circle Rep. Theatre debut as a chorus member in Oklahoma! and has since appeared in Harvey, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Camelot, in the featured role of Ambrose Kemper in Hello Dolly, as Ken in Cahoots and as the Steward in Into The Woods.

[Bob Gerould] The role of Sidney, the delicatessen owner is played by Magic Circle Rep. Executive Producer, Bob Gerould. Bob made a cameo appearance as a servant in South Pacific and has been appearing as Captain Hook in The Great Fairy Tale Mystery (which he wrote) and as the father of Hansel and Gretel in our children's theatre version of that classic (which he also wrote). Bob has appeared in many of his own productions including, The Odd Couple, On Golden Pond, Tribute, Guys and Dolls, Kiss Me Kate, Having A Wonderful Time, Wish You Were Her... (in which he wore a leaf bikini and a steel helmet) and The Ugly Duckling (in which he played a duck and a frog).

[Craig Collom] The role of Corban's boss Everett Parker is played by Craig Collom. Craig made his Magic Circle Rep. debut as Sailor Bob McCaffrey in South Pacific. Craig has acted in drama classes at Foothills Junior College in San Jose and Adult Education classes in Campbell.

Two actresses share the role of "the Blonde", Keri Newton and Deborah Forester. Keri was also in our cast of Moon Over Buffalo appearing as the pregnant Elaine. [Keri Newton] Keri, a product of our Youth and Master workshop programs, received a Birdsall Award for her role as Ermengarde in Hello Dolly. In our Master Youth workshop she has appeared in, Grease, Anything Goes, 42nd Street, Bye Bye Birdie, Li'l Abner, Oliver, West Side Story and Peter Pan. She has been a featured performer in our Holiday shows and in the annual Birdsall Award show and has also appeared in our Children's Theatre productions.
