The Summer Shakespeare Master Workshop
1st Annual
ASHLAND EXPERIENCE!!

For those students fortunate enough to be accepted into our Summer Shakespeare Master Workshop of Romeo and Juliet, there will be a new exciting element to our already amazing workshop experience! This summer, for those who get permission and can attend, we will be taking a FIELD TRIP to the premiere spot for professional Shakespeare outside of England – Ashland, Oregon. The Oregon Shakespearean Festival is one of the oldest and largest non-profit professional theatres in the nation. We have arranged for our MCT Master Workshop to attend this unforgettable opportunity! We will be staying three days and two nights in Ashland at the Southern Oregon University campus and will experience three shows, (two Shakespeare plays and one world premiere dealing with Shakespeare), in each of the Festival's three performance venues. Lodging and Meals are at the University of Southern Oregon (which is a 20 minute walk from the Festival). Students will also experience a back stage tour, a prologue to Henry VIII and a discussion with a cast member.

Meals: Includes Lunch 7/28, Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner on 7/29, and Breakfast/Lunch on 7/30

Lodging at the USO residence hall with shared bath and AC; double room, two nights.

Shows: 3 shows; all best seats.

Plus Tours, Classes: Includes tour of University theatre arts department, backstage festival tour, preface to Henry VIII, and one hour discussion with a cast member and our group.

Transportation: NO student drivers (meaning no Master Workshop Student), no exceptions. All students transported by chaperones in appropriate vans.

TOTAL COST PER STUDENT: $325.00 approximately (This cost is in addition to the $200 workshop fee). This is a GREAT DEAL!!! I will need to know if you are planning to attend at the time of registration. Let me know if your parent(s) would like to chaperone.

The trip is already planned for Tuesday through Thursday, July 28-30, 2009. I am posting this alongside the audition information now, so that IF you are planning to audition, then you can start saving so you wont miss out! If you save about $45 a week in the months of May and June the trip can be totally paid for! You must be able to pay for trip after acceptance into the Workshop.

Oh, I bet you want to know what shows we will be seeing don't you?? Well, how about, Henry VIII, Equivocation, and MACBETH!!!!! It's going to ROCK! Feel free to email me if you have any questions: michelle@civicwest.org
