Excellence in Theatre for the 2002/2003 season was held on Saturday, November 6 at the Black Tie Gala, Featuring the Birdsall Awards at the Roseville Theatre.

Named for the late actor and director Bill Birdsall, a longtime friend of the theatre, the Birdsall awards are Roseville's version of the Tonys. Each year, Magic Circle season ticket holders vote on their favorite performances for leading actor and actress and supporting actor and actress, in the two categories "Musical" and "Non-Musical".

The evening started with a reception and the fund-raising part of the activities, a silent auction. After the auction tables closed, the audience moved into the theatre where they were entertained with a selection of musical numbers from the shows of the coming season interspersed with clips of each nominee, and the presentation of awards to the winners
