Lisa Tarrer-Lacy
![]() Lisa Tarrer-Lacy (Director/Playwright/Actress) is originally from Chicago where she developed a passion for the performing arts (at the age of 5). Since then, she has performed in over 40 plays&emdash; off-Broadway, in the Bay Area, on television, and she has trained professionally in New York. Her theatrical achievements include playwriting, directing, acting, and teaching within the professional, community and educational theatre arenas. For the past four years, she has been the director and co-writer for the California Musical Theatre's, Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Project shows Keeping the Dream Alive and And the Dream Goes On. Lisa is also the Artistic Director and one of the founders of Images Theatre Company. In 2005, Lisa received the Cornel West Distinguished Alumni Award, and in 2004, she received two Elly nominations for best director and best actress for her portrayal of Lena in the play Boseman and Lena at Celebration Arts. In 2005, Lisa wrote and directed Wings of Freedom, which was presented at Chautauqua Playhouse, while her poem, "Belly of America," was recently published in Drum Voices Review. With a B.A. and Masters degree from CSU, Sacramento, Lisa is an alumna of the Sac. State theatre company, Sons and Ancestors Players. Included among the plays Lisa has written and directed locally are: Everyday People, A Musical Revue which she and Charles Cooper wrote jointly, and The Homecoming, which was co-written with Tamiko Greely. Other plays she has directed locally include Sacramento City College production of Joe Turner's Come and Gone, Spell #7 and A Love Song for Miss Lydia. In her spare time, she is the drama coach for Faith Fellowship Community Church, the Chief over Domestic Violence at the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, and the Executive Director of Freedom Homes Addiction Recovery Resources, a sober living center for men.
