Ken started his theater career in high school, where he was in the cast and crew of West Side Story, George M!, The Sound of Music and Li'l Abner. At UC Davis, he expanded his theater knowledge by working in positions of stage management, lighting design, fly-rail operator, light-board and sound-board operator, and set crew for both university and traveling productions.

In 1999, Ken returned to the stage with the Placer Adult School to play Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun. In 2002, he performed in a musical revue, most special because he was able to sing the duet "I Don't Need Anything But You" with his daughter Amanda Duisenberg.
