Shakespeare - MACBETH

Each season the Teen Master Theatre Project presents a work from the Bard himself as part of the ongoing educational program of the workshop. Some past Shakespeare productions have been Julius Caesar, A Midsummer Night's Dream, Romeo and Juliet and The Merry Wives of Windsor.

The Summer 2008 Shakespeare Teen Master Theatre Project will be Macbeth, Shakespeare's well-known tragedy. Michelle Pabst will direct this highly charged emotional drama over the summer with a few new features to the evolving Teen Master Theatre Project.

June 30th will be the first night of class and you must come prepared with a 2-3 minute monologue from Shakespeare (not from Macbeth). Classes will take place every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday night from 5:30-7:30 p.m.  You will come to every class with your script, a binder with paper, a highlighter and a pencil (there will be homework). On the first day of class you will also bring $5 for your script/book or a copy of No Fear Shakespeare - Macbeth.  You will also bring a check for $200 on the first day of class to register for the workshop at the end of the monologue process.

This summer's Teen Master Theatre Project will operate as a community of actors producing a show. In addition to acting roles, each student will be required to participate in one additional aspect of the production that we will discuss on the first day of class. You may be assigned to costumes, set design, publicity and promotions, lighting, stagecraft, props, musical score/sound or many other aspects that are needed to produce this drama. This Teen Master Theatre Project is designed to bridge the gap from high school to college theatre and in doing so we need to have students step up and take ownership of their show. Each team will be responsible to their individual leaders for their tasks, who will report back to the director. This will be a fun and rewarding experience as students take even greater responsibility for their show. Come prepared to work hard and be a team player.

For questions, please email Michelle Pabst.
